Professor Dr. Feridun ACAR,
He was born in Izmir. After completing his medical education at Hacettepe University, Brain and Neural Surgery expertise was obtained at Dokuz Eylül University. He was studying functional neurosurgery at the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in the state of Oregon in the United States.
After returning to Turkey in 2005, he founded Functional Neurosurgery Unit at Pamukkale University Hospital. In Pamukkale University, where he started to work as a lecturer in 2004, he became the Head of Department of Brain and Nerve Surgery in 2012 and is still in office.
There are more than 60 publications on functional neurosurgery, especially on movement disorders and epilepsy surgery.
He has memberships in many local and international associations such as the Turkish Neurosurgery Society, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Society of University Neurosurgeons, the European Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. He is currently serving as a referee in the Turkish Neurosurgery Journal. Dr. Feridun Acar has been serving as general secretary in the Turkish Neurosurgery Association and vice-president of IBNC (International Basic Neurosurgery Course).
